A little windy last night! But a Happy New Year is in the forecast!

After a Windy Night we will start to look better as the wind Advisories will be allowed to expire this morning with the last one by 8:am. We are looking for a much more quite week of Partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies! And we will start to see our temperatures get back down to normal! It will feel cold out their today as we will see our temperature go from a high of 52 Yesterday to around 26* degrees today! But this quite pattern wont last for very long! This is Indiana weather! We are known for our rapidly changing weather!!!!! As we start to get into the first week of January we will start to liven up again! But first how is your New Years outlook????? Well take a look below!

You see I'M not looking for any storms for the start to the New Year!!!!! This is what I would call a great start to the New Year! Right around average temperatures and all is looking good with Partly cloudy to Mostly sunny skies!!!!! YES!!!!! However I would like the forecast better if we would have snow on New Years But I guess this is good to! We need a break in the weather to give all of us some time to relax and get out of these flood watches and warnings that are still in effect! Also we have had a really wet December!!!!! We need time to dry out! Now we may still have a few breezy winds off and on today but I will take that over what we seen last Saturday any day! That was just to close for my liking! I think you all know what I'M talking about! As we seen the possibility of that rotation to touch down! We don't need that! Even more in December! But I'M not looking for anything like that as we liven up later on Next week! So you can rest your mind! For now I think all we have to worry about is Remembering to count down to the new Year and enjoying that beautiful Sunny sky! Think we can do that?? I do! :) Everybody have a great day and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! I will check back soon! With pictures from our Happy New Year!!!!! Have a great one! :-)

Another Nice day! Fire up the grill while you can!

We had another nice day yesterday! I recorded a high of 50.9* degrees!! Now this was not a record breaker but we was right around 20 degrees above average! When is this warm weather going to end????? That is a good question! :) We have another mild day today as we could see temperatures right around 47* degrees! Now this nice weather does not always come without something wild! Right? Well this time nothing bad!!! However some gusty winds are possible! Between 10 and 20 mph maybe some gusts near 30 or 35 mph at times today! So Nice weather but maybe some gusty winds! We can handle that! We will start to get back to normal by later on this week just in time for the New Year! Otherwise things are looking GREAT for this week so far! We do have a few more fronts coming in but the good news is I don't see anything like we seen last week with these fronts! Thank goodness!

Above is a map I made earlier to help show you the fronts! Now normally this set up would lead to storms or such! But this time it is not a strong low pressure system and any perception that falls will be on the snowy side! However it looks like the snow will stay in Northern Indiana with little to no sticking snow expected! We may see a few light light snow flurries possible but even that is a real slight chance! And only one model is showing snow flurries! But as this cold front pushes through our area later Wednesday! We will start to see our temperatures get back to where they are supposed to be!

So other then the wind today we can fire up the grill and get one good quick meal in! Now that is not something we can do everyday here in December! You may want to take advantage of this warm day while you can! Maybe take your dogs for a walk or the kids to the park! Maybe even take down your Christmas lights outside! I already did mine a few days ago! Believe me it is a lot easier to take them down when the ground is not froze!!!!!

Have a great day Bloggers! I will check back real soon!

What a wild day of Watches Warnings and Advisories! And high temperatures set a new record.

Well we had a wild day yesterday!!!!! We had So many watches and warnings out it was not even funny! We seen Tornado watches and warnings. We had severe thunderstorm watches and warnings. We had Wind advisories. And we still have Flood watches and warnings out!! We even see high winds rool into the Indiana after midnight! It really was a mess! As the storms started to roll through we seen some rotation in the system! And strong winds! You can see on the radar image I have posted below! But the good news is there have not been any tornado reports here in Indiana! So even though there was Doppler indicated rotation nothing touched the ground! Thank goodness! You can see as that system started to move through we seen those Tornado warnings come out! Along with the severe thunderstorm warnings! The rotation stayed with that line for some time! Up till it got around Kokomo, It was a strong cell! But the good news is everybody stayed safe! There was a lot of reports as well in Indiana! However they where only High wind reports! Which is better then tornado! Wind can do a lot of damage and it did! Here is a few reports from right here in Indiana! And this is not all the reports! Here is a few more from Indiana!

NAPPANEE ELKHART IN,

POLE BARN BLOWN OFF ITS FOUNDATION. TREES DOWN IN SOUTHWEST PART OF NAPPANEE.

PRINCETON GIBSON IN,

SEMI TRACTOR-TRAILER BLOWN OVER ALONG HIGHWAY 41 NEAR THE TOYOTA PLANT. NO INJURIES REPORTED.

You see the wind did a lot of damage around the area! We where lucky that this was all it was! Here is a few reports from IL, and MO, where they had a few Tornado's Touch down!

NW LIBERTY ADAMS IL,

ROOFS OF 3 HOMES LIFTED AND THROWN 500 YARDS TO THE NORTHEAST.

6 N NEW LONDON RALLS MO,

TWO HOMES DAMAGED ALONG HIGHWAY HH NEAR HIGHWAY 61. A BILLBOARD ALSO DOWN ALONG 61. SOME TREES AND POWER LINES ALSO DOWN.

THOMPSON AUDRAIN MO,

PUBLIC REPORTED A BRIEF TORNADO IN A FIELD NEAR THOMPSON. NO DAMAGE REPORTED.

Looking at these tornado reports this really tells you how lucky we are that we just had wind damage and nothing Else! We will still have to watch the creeks and rivers as we finish out with our rainfall totals just to be safe!! However I have heard the creeks are not flooding at this time which is GREAT news! Here are a few final rainfall totals!I do have some good news!!!!! What is it????? Well we have a nice rest of the weekend and a few Partly cloudy days to dry out! This is good news it will give the ground some time to soak up all this puddling rain water! And we will start to get back down to normal temperatures for this time of year by later this week! We did however break a Record which was set on the 27 back in 1971 of a high in December of 63 Degrees! We had a high of 67* degrees yesterday! And a NEW RECORD HAS BEEN SET!

So on that better note of a better looking week I will see you soon! Have a great weekend!!!!! And thank you for reading!

Soooo many watches and warnings!

We have so many weather watches warnings and Advisories out right now it is not even funny! I would not be surprised if we in Tippecanoe are put in one here before long! Here is a link you can keep updated on the watches and warnings!

NOAA's National Weather Service

We have Tornado watches out in Jasper Newton And Benton counties right now along with Severe thunderstorm watches flood warnings flash flood warnings for northern Jasper And Newton counties and Wind Advisories!!!!! And the list just keeps getting longer! Now the good news is I have checked out my latest models and we are looking for more of a multicell rather then Supercells! Which is good however we will never let our guard dawn for we do Live in Indiana!

We have been seeing these high winds this afternoon and they could be higher in storms! So Right now I think the main things we will have to worry about this time will be High winds! And as always Lightning! Still I have my Thunderstorm stuff ready to track and I'M in the storm tracking MODE! We are ready to go! Keep it here for the latest!

There has been some tornados reported in IL, as well as some hail but the most of the reports have been High winds! Here is a map
I will keep in tuch!

Weather update! And now Wind Advisories!

Hey I have a update! The NWS does now have us in a slight risk for severe weather however two of my models do show us starting to see the squall line of storms later on tonight around 10:pm or 11:pm. If this happens we will lose some of our high daytime heating! This would give the storm a chance to break up and break down! Which will help us! Now I do still have the rainfall totals for Tippecanoe county and areas around in that Quarter to a Half inch possible and up in Jasper county and areas around them should see rainfall between a Half inch to Three quarters of an inch! Still we will watch this closely! Also the main things I really want people to watch out for as of now is still the high Winds!!!!!b And high Wind Gusts in storms! And Lightning as always! Just remember your lightning safety tips!

Now we also have a wind Advisory out! For almost the whole state of Indiana!
Take it slow on roads because when that wind hits you it can make driving hard!
I will keep popping in through out the day as needed!
Take care!

The Fog has moved out but Thunderstorms are on the way for tonight!

Well here is the latest on what we can expect for today!

We can expect to see some off and on rain showers with some winds between 15 and 25 mph. As we head into later tonight! That is when we could see the Thunderstorms. It is looking like closer to 6:pm or 7:pm! So if you hear thunder you will be ready! Now the good thing is we are not expecting to see any severe thunderstorms today or tonight! Just some good old thunder. However as with any thunderstorm Lightning will be something to watch out for as well this time wind! We could see possible wind gusts around 30 to 35 mph! So we will have to watch that as well! I will be here as late as I need to so we all can keep everybody updated! Now if this is not expected to be severe then why am I watching it so closely?? Well it is December and as you all know WINTER! And we are currently looking like spring! So when things like this happens we need to watch it closely! Things can change in a SNAP! So Even though it is not forecasted to I will still watch it closely! Now we do have those Darn flood watches and warnings out but the good news is the rainfall amounts are between a half inch and one Inch for Benton, Newton, and Jasper, Counties! As of now! This is better news for they had all that Icy wet stuff still up their! So the less the Better! As for us our rainfall amounts are betweenA half inch and Three quarters of an inch possible as well for the Marion, area! And I have a bit more good news! THE FOG IS GONE!!!!! ;-) You see below how bad it was! It's kind of scary picture! But it is scary to drive in! And this is why we should always stay home if we don't have to go out in fog.
Now I said I would post some pictures! And here they are from our Great And Very Merry Christmas we had! In the first picture you see the YUMMY Pecan Pie! Yes that was me who dipped into it :) And we had great Christmas lights! I seen on another Blog some Beautiful light ;-) Here you see we had our Fireplace on the TV You can't get much better then that! But other then the Family the Food the FUN!!!!! It had to be the beautiful Sunset we had Christmas Night! I walked out and was just WOW! I thought it was the best gift We could have ever had! It was a great ending to a great day! And what was really great about the sunset was the sky was cloudy all day and it cleared up just enough to have a nice beautiful sunset!
I hope all you had a great Christmas as well and now not only do we get ready for the Thunderstorms for later tonight but we have to get ready for the New Year! :-) Have a great day Bloggers and I will keep checking in today as needed!
Thank you for reading and feel free to post you Comments!

It's Winter but the weather is spring like?

Hey there did everybody have a Great Christmas????? I know I did everything was just Great! I will post some pictures and talk more about it on here a little later!

First We need to talk about possible thunderstorms! I know I said Thunderstorms!!!!!!! This time of year????? Well it is not Unheard of! But because it is December we will have to watch this system closely! Now I have checked out the maps and models and Currently the SPC has mid and north Indiana in a 5% chance of being put in a Slight risk for severe weather! And south Indiana like closer to Indianapolis, and Terre Haute, have a better chance with 12% chance of seeing a slight risk for severe weather! Now as of now I think the main things to watch will be Flooding! and this is because places like up around Remington and Lgoansport, all still have Ice on the ground and as our temperatures rise the Ice will melt while the rain is coming down! As this happens the ground will not soak up the water all that fast! There is already Flood watches and warnings out! Here is the Counties in the Flood watches and warnings I have posted below!

FLOOD WARNING.....Newton, Fountain, Parke, Starke,Warren, Tippecanoe,

FLASH FLOOD WATCH.....Jasper, Benton,

FLOOD WATCH.....White, Pulaski, Fulton,

DENSE FOG ADVISORY.....FOR MOST OF THE STATE OF INDIANA,

So If you live in these areas you need to be careful and be safe! Because Flooding is very possible and or likely! For the rest of us we all could very well see some thunderstorms but again these storms are not expected to be severe! However as with any thunderstorm Lightning is one of the things to watch and another thing I think we need to watch is going to be high winds!!!!! The winds are expected to be between 20 and 25 mph with possible gusts around 3o to 35 mph! Maybe higher in storms! This is for Saturday! Whats causing this? Well the Jet stream in lifting north just before a Cold front is about to push through! Or to make it a little easier a Warm Front is pushing North just before The Cold front pushes through. As all the warmer moist air rises north bringing our temperatures to around that Mid 50* degrees mark and then a cooler blast of air with the cold front will make our air unstable! Causing thunderstorms to spark up! Today we will see some off and on light rain showers with highs in the upper 40s! A good day to enjoy some leftover Christmas Dinner! :)

I will keep popping in as needed and I will be back a little later with some pictures from our Christmas! ;-)

Just checking in!

Hey I just wanted to make a quick check in and give you the latest on roads!

There has been reports from up in Remington, Warren county has pulled all of their salt trucks off he road and advised no travel. Benton county ESM travel only on county roads. Jasper county roads are iced over except where they were able to put down salt. I hear the more north you go the worse it gets! Not all roads are this bad so here is some road reports I'M posting below!

I-65 REMINGTON TO BROOKSTON WET I-65 BROOKSTON TO LAFAYETTE WET I-65 LAFAYETTE TO FRANKFORT WET I-65 FRANKFORT TO THORN TOWN WET I-74 ILLINOIS TO VEEDERSBURG WET I-74 VEEDERSBURG TO CRAWFORDSVILLE WETOTHER US AND STATE ROADS ICE COVERED SECONDARY ROADS ICE COVERED****

US-31 COUNTIES- FULTON MIAMI SLUSHY US-31 COUNTIES- HOWARD TIPTON SLUSHY US-24 COUNTIES- CASS MIAMI WABASH SLUSHYOTHER US AND STATE ROADS SLUSHY SECONDARY ROADS ICE COVERED****

This is the latest I have! This should help give you an idea as to how the roads are before you get out there! So again please drive safely and be careful!!!!!
And I'M still keeping some snow flurries possible for later tonight or Early Christmas morning! Now some models show this system staying all rain while others show it changing over to Snow snow on the back side! So I just wanted to get that out so if we don't get and snow flurries you won't be disappointed!

Thank you and Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!! And Be careful traveling!

Hey there!

I would like to start by saying MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! AND WOW what a wet system we had! We had it all! We had Snow we had Sleet we had Freezing rain and we had just Rain!!!!! It was a wintry mess out there! Now just snow would have been fine with me :) The bad thing about this system was the road reports! Of cars turned over on there side's and pile ups! This is just something we don't want to see! So when things get like they where yesterday! We all should just stay home if we can! And only go out if we have to! Now I know a lot of people will be traveling today as it is Christmas Eve! YA!!!!! :) Sorry about that I almost lost my cool there! :) Anyway please be careful if you are going up north as there could be some slick or icy roads! In places! So just take your time and be safe! Here in Tippecanoe County I ended up with a total ice amount of one Tenth inch! Not much but I'M glad! I did not want to see a repeat of last week! Also most of the watches warnings and Advisories will be allowed to expire today that's some good news!!!With the earliest over by 4:am this morning!!!!! And there was some highlights of the day! Like SNOW! That's right we did get an early Christmas Gift!!!!! You see below the Nickel size snow flakes!!!!!
Snow on Christmas or not it will be a great one! This snow was sooooooo beautiful to watch! I only ended up with .20" Inch of snow but it covered the ground sidewalks and street's! You can see below my walkway! Is / was covered with snow!
This was fine until we had the Tenth inch of icy mess on top of it! The ice is what we could have done without! But again the good news is it was not much ice here in Tippecanoe Co,

Now This is one of the best days of the year!!!!! Well other then Christmas day it's self! We all will be watching Christmas movies and getting some food ready! popping the turkey or Ham in the oven tonight! Oh I can smell it now! :) But first!!!!!! I will give you your forecast! Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Forecast!

Today we will have a few left over rain showers however we should have a slight brake in the rain between 6:am and 8:am but we will start to see the whole system move out by later on this afternoon! Now one of my models is showing at least some snow flurries for Christmas morning! So I will still keep a few snow flurries in the forecast!!! We will see how that plays out! Either way we all will have a Merry Christmas! Right?? :)

I will see you all After Christmas! I Will be spending some Family time and catching up with everybody! ((((Have a Very Merry Christmas From My Family to yours!)))) I will see you all real Soon!!!!! Oh One more thing before I forget! If your Kids would like to track Santa on hit trip around the world! Here is a link!

NORAD Santa Tracker at Northpole.com

Have a Marry Christmas and I will see you all soon!!!!! :)

I have talked with a lot of great people last night and it just seems like everybody is feeling that bit of magic in the air that always comes this time of year and even more on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! If you just take a minute to set back and enjoy the lights family and everything you will feel that magic!! It's like everything just stops for a minute or two! Again have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! Wishing you a warm and loving Holiday! ;-)

Weather reports pouring in.

Hey I'M checking in with you all again!

Some roads are better then others! The road crew's are doing there best here in Indiana by pouring salt and doing what ever they can! I did just get off the phone and have a reports that there was about a 12 car pile up with a few 18 wheelers involved! This was in Wisconsin, on 94 between Milwaukee, and Racine. This is why we say when things are like they are today! The best thing you can do is stay home! Now most roads in Indiana really in Tippecanoe are doing pretty good! Still you should always keep an eye out for slick spots and icy areas! This is also because some of the back roads and neighborhood roads are still snow covered! They are really slick because we have a layer of snow on the bottom and another layer of Ice on top of that! I had another Report coming from about a mile from Remington, coming off an Off ramp on 65 there was a car on it's side! So again please take your time and be careful! This freezing rain and or sleet will continue through out at least 10:pm tonight! Before it changes over to all rain with a possible chance of some snow mixed in with it! I'M also still keeping hope for at least some snow flurries on Christmas but if not this of what snow we had this morning as an early Christmas gift!

I will have some pictures of our Big snow flakes on here later tonight! If anybody has any weather pictures you can send them to me at storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them on the Blog! Please keep safe and I will check back as needed!

Good new's I see less ice this time!! And we are still keeping hope for snow On Christmas!!

Quick Cast............................................

The rest of today. High around 29* Degrees. A mix of Rain snow freezing rain sleet will all be possible today! Snow / Sleet can be expected by this afternoon. I will keep the snow and sleet amounts around a half inch!. Freezing rain closer to 2:pm. Not looking for as much ice as last week. Only around a Tenth of an inch! Winds between 10 and 20 mph with some gusts near 30 mph.

Tonight. Lows around 28* degrees. Back to all rain / Snow by closer to 10:pm. Rainfall amounts for today. Between a Quarter to a Half of an inch!

Christmas Eve
Wednesday. Highs in the mid to upper 30s. Rain will be in the forecast! With at times a mix with some snow! New rainfall amounts between a Quarter to a Half of an inch possible! Winds between 15 and 20 mph. Some models are showing a quick burst of snow showers on the back side of this system! I will keep a close watch on this and keep you posted!

Christmas Day
Thursday. I'M still keeping some snow flurries in the forecast! I don't feel we should rule them out just yet! I know a lot of you want a White Christmas but I think snow flurries or Snow showers will do good to! Lows around the low 20s.

Extended Outlook. We will start to warm up a bit and may be having milder temperatures as we start to head into the New Year! With the weather pattern we are in right now we will keep seeing these Cold blast of air! And this also keeps us in an icy pattern! I'M watching another system for closer to Sunday! I will keep you posted on this and keep you updated! For now I say GET READY FOR THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR!!!!! THAT'S RIGHT CHRISTMAS IS UPON US!!!!!

I'll Have an Update and pictures coming your way later on!

I'M still staying hopeful for some snow flurries on Christmas! And Less Ice this time from last week!

Well I will get into the weather here in just a minute first I want to thank one of my neighbors!! Here is why! I was sitting in the house watching a movie and I herd a
" Knock " at the door! It was a Pizza guy! But we had not ordered a Pizza?? So we thought he had the wrong place! He said nope this is the right place! So we asked who is this from?? He said someone ordered it and said it was from a greatful friend! We took the pizza inside and started to think who it could be from when we then thought it has to be from our good neighbor! I called her up and asked if she was the greatful friend! Her replay (I don't know what you are talking about) It turneds out she was the one who sent it! She said we do so much for her that she wanted to do something for us! Even though she did not have to she did anyway! I thought that was a Very nice surprise! So thank you!!!!! Gorgie! Here is what she rights on the box below!

I don't know how well you all can see this but it says ((From A Greatful Friend Happy Holidays!!)) This just reminds you of the season of giving loving and being with family and friends!

Now back to weather and just what we can be expecting! Well for Later today More like this afternoon! We will start to see some Sleet / Snow showers! Only to change over to all rain / Freezing rain by 7:pm tonight! Currently I'M not expecting anything big this time Freezing rain wise! I think the ice totals will stay closer to less then a tenth of an inch! Now on the back side of this wintry system we will see rain / maybe a snow mix! Now I think the rainfall totals will be closer to a half inch to three quarters of an inch possible! Maybe some gusty winds at times as well! The winds will be between 10 and 20 mph with gusts around 25 mph.

Now for Christmas Eve! Some mix of rainy and snowy or a wintry mix if you will! It will be an off and on thing and will start to let up later that evening! Christmas is getting closer! How about the Christmas forecast you ask?????That's right I will keep hope and keep looking for at least snow flurries! I will keep updating the Christmas outlook so we all know what to expect! Even if we don't have a white Christmas we all need to remember what This season is really about! And that snow is not everything snow is just the ((Icing on the cake!)) And we also will start out the New Year with milder temperatures! But we can talk more about that as it gets closer for now lets just stick with our Christmas outlook and Today's forecast! Again I think we will stick with less ice amounts then we seen last week! and more sleet snow and rain! I will keep you posted on this today as needed!

Have a great day!!!!! (((((MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! AND PEACE ON EARTH!!!!!)))))

So right now I'M looking for Ice amounts between a Tenth to Two Tents of an inch possible! And again I think the rain will melt some of it as well! Now new rainfall amounts are going to be between a Half inch to and inch possible! This will be between Late Tuesday into Wednesday afternoon. So how about a white Christmas? Well Maybe people up north! But for us! Maybe a few snow flurries possible! But we are in this Icy pattern and that is really the big problem! If all this rain and sleet was snow! We would be looking at around Ten Inches of snow! So close but yet so far!

Here is the current expected track of this Low pressure system! That will bring us a mix of rain and Ice!

You can see we are on the warmer side of this system! This means we could see mostly ice mostly rain or both! And right now it is looking like we could see mostly both! Ice first and then a soaker! RAIN! But at least we will should calm down a bit just in time for Christmas! Also I want to point out the COLD Wind chills that will still be with most of us through out the day today and even tomorrow! Today winds between 10 and 15 mph will make it feel like -7* degrees out there and for tonight it will feel like -13* degrees! So please do keep warm and keep a close watch on your pets! I will keep you posted on Tuesday! Stay tuned and stay safe!

THE WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST TODAY. This is for Carroll, Warren, and Clinton, Counties.

...WIND CHILL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST /NOON CST/THIS AFTERNOON......WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING... This is for White, Pulaski, Starke, Miami, Cass, And Fulton, Counties.

If you get any Icy, snowy, Sensets, or anything weather feel free to send your pictures to storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them here on the blog! Have a great day And I will keep you posted!

Blowing snow with WILD WIND!!!!! Stay home and stay dry!!!!!

Hey there I'M just checking in with you again and I got some pictures of whats going on outside! Now please don't do like I did and go out just to take pictures! That was dumb of me LOL :) But here is a few shots Below! The wind is blowing sooooooooooooooo hard!!!!!!!!!! I was out for around 5 minutes and I felt like I had been out for hours!!!!! Please if you can stay home today the that is the best thing you can do!

And this is just a few snow flurries! Now picture this as Heavy snow showers! We would be seeing a BLIZZARD! But you can really see the snow blowing good! So I think the best thing we all can do is again just stay home where it is warm and dry! Maybe watch some Football watch some Christmas movies by the tree or how about some Home made GOODIES!!!!! YA That will work! :) And remember We still have a chance of seeing more possible freezing rain later on on Tuesday! I will keep you posted on that and I will see you here later tomorrow! See you then!

Oh one more thing! Please keep a close watch on your pets if they go out! They can get frost bite just as fast as we can! And as of now we can get frost bite in less then 30 minuets! So be safe and stay warm!!!

A wind chill warning has just been put out!

There has been a wind chill warning put into effect!

...WIND CHILL WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST MONDAY...
This is for Pulaski, Cass, Fulton, and Miami Counties!

The other watches are still in effect!!!!!

Today we can still expect highs of only 9* degrees with a low of -3* degrees without wind chill! Wind chill it will feel like -20 to -25* degrees below! Please if you can stay home do so! Don't go out unless you HAVE TO!!!!!

Now I said I would give you an update for Christmas! Well we are in this Icy pattern and we could very well see a mix of rain and snow! A white Christmas is really looking iffy And I hate to say this! And we do have some more possible freezing rain back in the forecast! For as soon as Tuesday! I will keep you posted on that and keep you updated! However I think maybe some snow flurries for Christmas! Believe it or not this does still have time to change and I will keep you posted! I will keep hope til it is here! For now have a great day and Please Keep WARM AND BRING IN YOUR PETS!!!!! AND DON'T KEEP THEM OUT TO LONG!!!!!

We go from Icy to Bitter COLD!!!!!

Windy with COLD COLD wind chills!!!!!

...WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM CST /4 AM EST/SUNDAY TO 12 PM CST /1 PM EST/ MONDAY... This is for Benton, Newton, And Jasper, Counties!

...WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 6 PM EST SUNDAY...
This is for Tippecanoe, Fountain, Warren, Howard, And Carroll, Counties!

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.

This is really something we need to take note of!!!! Currently I'M looking for Sunday's high to be only 9* degrees with a low of -4* degrees this is without wind chill! We will also see winds between 25 and 30 mph with gusts near 40 mph! This will make wind chills feel like -20 to -25 Degrees!!!!! You can get frost bite in less then 30 minutes! If you can stay home that is the best thing you can do! If you do have to go out in this COLD weather! Then be sure to have a survival kit in your car! Just to be safe!!!!!!!!! It will be a cold few days!!!!! Make sure to give your family the heads up as well we want everybody to be safe and ready of whats to come!

Now for snow we have snow flurries on the way for closer to 7:pm tonight! I don't think it will be much. Maybe a Dusting! The models are still being tricky! For Christmas! Right now it might be a mix over to all snow! The totals are still tricky! I will keep watching them closely and I will try to give you a better idea as to what we will be looking for on Christmas Here tomorrow!!!!! See you then!!!!!

The Icy Mess Hit some harder then others!

Well after the wild day we had I think this is a Much better looking Radar after all that rain really soaked us!!! The only rain I can find on this radar image is a little light rain down around Bloomington. And with how things are looking for the start to our Saturday! I think we should have some time to dry off a bit! :) Even more good news is we should not have to worry about anymore rain for awhile!

This is a picture I took earlier yesterday morning! It is my pool! There was at the least amount Two Inches of water just sitting on top of the ice! From all the Heavy Heavy rain we seen! That and some of the melting Ice! For some people this storm did little to no damage while in other areas people lost power for a few hours!!!

Here is a few I have posted below!

Tippecanoe Co, Had 415 people without power all have power back now!

Fountain Co, Had 1,037 people without power all have power back now!

One of the Bigger outage was Fulton Co, With 3,667 people without power. Most if not all is back now!

Here is a few ICY reports from Newton, and Jasper, Counties I have posted below.

Jasper Co, JUST now got power back after losing it at 3:40 a.m this morning. We have .25 to .30 inch ice with many limbs down, power lines down in town, thankfully temp is now above freezing at 35* and ice is falling.

Newton Co, Freezing rain started to fall late last night (10 p.m. CST) and continued through the night and was still misting at 8:00 a.m. CST. An accumulation of 3/8 to 3/4 inch diameter was measured on the gauge and tree limbs. Current conditions of a fine mist is still falling with calm winds and temp at 31 deg F. Many tree limbs have fallen with the weight of the ice.

We see this and Tippecanoe County was lucky! We missed out on the worst of the storm! I had only two Tents of an inch of ice. Now I just hope everybody has there power!!! Here is a picture of some miner tree limbs that fell here in Tippecanoe Co, Lafayette,This tree limb was long but not to big! The biggest end is only two inches thick! and is Seven Feet long! And this is just about all I could find here in Tippecanoe Co, Lafayette,! Other then Icy sidewalks early in the morning! And a lot of COLD Puddles!!!!! It was like taking a walk into a Swimming pool!! YUCK!!!!! Here are some Rainfall totals from Yesterday posted below!. You see a lot went on and some is still recovering! The best thing about all this is it is now OVER! And we all can rest with ease knowing that it is past! And even better we all can now focus on a possible white Christmas! And more snow on Sunday!

Not to forget up in Minnesota, and South Dakota in that area there are Bilzzard Warning! Places like Marshall, and windom, MN, Seeing 2 to 5 Inches of snow but what makes it so Bad is the 20 to 40 mph winds!!!!! This is for sure a WIld Winter system! They will have there hands full for a little while!

But back here at home For Sunday I'M not looking for much but maybe less then an inch possible! For Christmas Eve I'M currently looking for snow in that closer to 1" to 3" inch range!! But this has time to change! And you know I will keep you posted! I really want a White Christmas just as much as all of you!!!!! For now Lets all go out and Not only catch up on our sleep! But also Have a great weekend!!!!! :-)

I will see you real soon! Have a great weekend!!!!! Happy Saturday!

What a night with Ice and fright!!

Well it has been a long NIGHT for me and some of you as well I know of a lot of people up late last night taking on Mike Prangley's Blog! :) You can see this radar image I have posted below from 1:54am this is all Freezing rain and you can really pick out the heaver bands!
You can really see all the Yellow raped around us! Which is the Mod rain!
You can see there is a lot of moister and not only from the radar! but the Satellite! Moister all the way from TX,
This storm has a lot to work with! and it sure is letting out every bit it has!

The timing was rather close as we expected it to Start closer to 11:pm and it started here just Ten minuets after 11:pm! You can't get much closer then that! Now I will post the final Ice amounts on here later this evening. do take your time and be safe if you have to go out as there may be possible slick spots early this morning!!!! Last night Some have reported hearing sirens! and slick roads reported in north east Clinton County! like sheets of Ice! and some people had lost power!
Here is a few litesting of lost power! as of 3:55am
Tippecanoe 69 people with power outage
Montgomery 41 people with power outage
Warren 47 people with power outage
Clinton 17 people with power outage
I will have pictures coming your way on here later on today! If you have any you can send them to storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them on the Blog! Still we can expect New rainfall amounts between One inch to an inch and a Quarter! We will need those rainfall totals! Maybe some possible snow mixed in with this wet mess but little to now snow will stick!! We will save the sticking snow for Sunday!

Now we are still in that Ice storm warning until 9:am this morning EST, Then it will be allowed to expire! But the good news is that after this WILD SYSTEM moves out we will get a GREAT nights sleep Tonight! This System sure has been a head banger! But we are / did get through it!!! Now we still have to be smart on the roads! I'M thinking that as this Freezing rain changes over to just plain rain it will melt some of the ice making the roads and walk way a little better! Still take your time in the early morning just to be safe! But I do think we will look a lot better by late morning to the afternoon!!!

Now WE will talk more about this later today with some pictures! But until then lets talk about something other then ICE! :)
That's right snow! Our next chance of seeing any possible sticking snow will be on Sunday where I think we will see only a little bit around less then an inch! And another system on Christmas Eve with a possible one to Three inches but we will see and know more snowfall wise as it gets closer! So YES a white Christmas is looking Likely!!!!
Now lets get off to a good start today as I have to point out the Indianapolis COLTS have pull off another WIN and are now going to the PLAYOFFS!!!!! A GREAT DAY IT IS!!!!! :)
So we will talk more on this ICY day later on and I will post some final Ice totals from around the area! Heave a great day and watch out for the Chilly puddles!
Thank you for reading and have a great day!

Ice to Rain update! and Slick sidewalks!

Quick Cast......................

Tonight. Lows in the upper 20s with Ice on the way! I'M expecting the Freezing rain to start closer to 11:pm where we could see between a Tenth to a Quarter of an inch of ice possible!

Friday. Rain will move in right after the Ice Early early morning 3:am, We can expect Three quarters of an inch to one Inch of rain before it let's up later in the afternoon after one pm. Highs will be in the mid 50s.

Friday Night. Lows will be in the upper 20s with Cloudy to Partly Cloudy skies. Light winds between 10 and 15 mph.

Extended Outlook. Saturday is looking good with highs in the mid to upper 20s with Partly cloudy skies. A slight chance of a light rain later in that evening not looking like much at all as of now! Chilly lows in the low low 20s! With our next chance of Snow on Sunday! Sticking snow! I will have more on this later tonight! See you then!

Ice amounts are still looking around that Tenth to a Quarter of an inch mark! And a LOT of rain on the back side! This storm is packing a lot of moisture with it as you can really pick it out on satellite below! We are looking for rainfall between Three quarters of an inch to One Inch of rain right after the ice is over! Early Early Friday morning. Right now it is looking like the rain will start around 3:am Friday morning. This may melt some of the ice however slick roads will still need to be watched! The slick roads will be up to us to drive safely!

I will check back real soon with more on this! And just how much Snow we can expect on Sunday!!! Have a great day! And be careful out there it is slick on some of the sidewalks! You can see why I say this below! I had to go do some snow scooping and this is a picture of a chunk of that ice from last Tuesday! Where we had a Tenth of an inch of ice! This is what we can still find out there today! So be careful!

Feel Free To Post Your Comments!

Icy update! For the better!

Everything is still looking good at this time! I do Still think the Ice will start to form closer to 7:pm maybe 8:pm! Now our Ice amounts will be between a Tenth to a quarter of an inch! However I think we will be right in the middle of this mark with around two Tents of an inch of ice! This is better news for less ice less damage! However roads will still be slick and icy in spots! I think we will be OK! This should not take out any Big tree limbs maybe just a few small branches! But nothing we can't Handel! Here is some Ice amounts to give you an idea as to where the worst could be!

Munice, Around a Tenth of an inch.

Lafayette, Around Two Tents of an inch.

Remington, Around a Quarter inch.

Crown Point, Around a Quarter to a Half inch,

Fort Wayne, Around a Half inch to Three Quarters of an inch.

Still if you can stay home tonight that would be for the best! If you have to get stuff done then you should do it now! Before any YUCKY Weather hits! :) On the better side most of us should miss out on the bigger stuff and we can start to rest with ease! Knowing this Icy mess will soon be out and gone!

Have a great day Bloggers and I will check back later this evening to tonight!

Please feel free to post your Icy stories and comments! If you have any Icy pictures you can send then in to storm18mini@aol.com and I will post them right here on the blog! Have a great day!

Icicles are on the way! And a NICE White Christmas is looking likely!!!!!

Today. Forecast Focus!!!!! Freezing rain is in the forecast!! I'M expecting the freezing rain to start around 7:pm as we could expect Ice between a Tenth and a Quarter Inch possible! Expect higher amounts the more north you go! Highs will be in the upper 20s!

Tonight. Freezing rain Changing over to all rain by midnight. Lows will be in the upper 20s. Winds will be between 5 to 10 mph.

Friday. Highs will be in the upper 30s and lows in the upper 20s. We can expect rain in the morning before it starts to tapper off into the afternoon. Current expected rainfall amounts between Three quarters of an inch and one inch possible.

Extended Outlook. Saturday is looking good with temperatures in the upper 20s and cloudy to Partly cloudy skies Maybe a little winter mix of rain and snow. I'M currently watching Sunday as our next snowy system with as of now a possible one to two inches!! And a White Christmas is looking very likely!! As another snowy system is likely on Christmas Eve! Maybe two to four inches possible! Maybe more! I will keep you posted on this as well as it gets closer!! :-)

That's right I'M thinking Tippecanoe County and Counties around Tipp, Will see ice between a Tenth and a Quarter of an inch possible! This does not mean we are in the clear!! Even a Tenth of an inch of Ice is enough to cause major road problems! Also Tippecanoe, Warren, And Clinton Counties are in a Ice storm warning!

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN INDIANAPOLIS HAS ISSUED AN ICE STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THURSDAY TO 3 AM EST FRIDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

Still I will keep us between a Tenth and a Quarter of an inch of Ice! This is a lot of ice but not enough to cause major major problems. However We will still see slick spots and slick roads in places! We will have to take it slow and allow ourselves some extra time! Now the places I do think has a better chance of seeing the bigger Ice is up around the northern Newton and Jasper Counties!. And they could see ice between a quarter and a Half inch possible! Now if you are heading up far north around South Bend IN, You could run into some BIG ICY Problems!!!!! As they could see closer to Three Quarters of an inch!! You see the more you go up north the worse it gets!!.

This map above is not just for people in Tippecanoe County but everybody who has a chance of seeing any Ice! Everybody needs to take their time!.

Now on Friday we will see this Ice change into all rain by around midnight that early morning! As of now the rain is expected to let up by Friday afternoon! Also we can be looking for rainfall amounts between Three Quarters to One Inch possible! We will need the rain gauges again! Please feel free to post your total rainfall from your area! And Ice amounts!!! Thank you!

Now after all this scary Ice talk I would like to Cher you up a bit!! How you ask????? Well How about telling you we have a REALLY GOOD chance of seeing a WHITE CHRISTMAS this year!!!!! That's right I have been watching this as close as I can and Thing's are looking really good at this point for a white Christmas! This is because I'M watching two systems! One as soon as Sunday where as of now we could see snowfall between one to two inches maybe more we will see as it gets closer!! And the next system coming on the best night it can!!!!! Christmas eve!!!!! Where we could see another two to four inches! Possible!!!!! I will keep you posted as it gets closer!! Now don't you feel better? :-) I hope so!

So once again hang in there with the ice and I will keep you updated as needed!!!!! If you have any ICY pictures please feel free to send them in to me at storm18mini@aol.com and I will love to Post them on the blog! Have a great day knowing that this should not be another Ice storm like back in 1991! :)

Tonight. Lows will be in the low teens. With winds between 10 and 15 mph.

As this could be something dangerous!!

Friday. Another day of a Wet mix of rain and snow. You can expect around an inch of rain when all is said and done. Highs will be in the low 40s and lows will be in the upper 20s.

Extended Outlook. The start to the weekend is looking good with temperatures in the 20s. Partly cloudy skies on Saturday. Maybe some snow showers to flurries on Sunday!. Also I'M still keeping a white Christmas Possible in the forecast! :-)

Hey there we had a wet snowy icy day yesterday!! But that was only the tip of the iceberg for this week to come! First lets talk about some of what we had yesterday! First off it was so cold the past few days and yesterday that any snow that fell was sticking with no problem! And that made roads slick! By earlier yesterday afternoon I had a half inch of snow and the liquid ratio of that was two tents of an inch of water. Now this means that if we had and inch of water we would have been tracking around 20 inches of snow yesterday! WOW I as a snow lover would have loved to track that! Just as any snow lover would! :) But I ended up with .75" Three quarters of an inch of snow! and a quarter inch of ice. Here is a few snowfall total reports I have posted below!
In the picture above that is a street so you can see how bad the roads look! You see above Jasper County came in with two inches as a final total and parts of Tippecanoe County came in with one inch of snow! Now we did have a heavy band of snow come in yesterday around 1:30pm which gave way to some quarter size snow flakes! you can see on the radar image I have posted below the heavy band I have circled it for you. I also have reports of Heavy Heavy snowfall that was up in and around South Bend Indiana where Visibility was reduced and people driving really had to slow it down! Which was a good call!!!!! That is one of the main things is people just don't slow it down when roads get like this! You can enjoy the snow if you just be ready for it! Now Thursday is the next wild and possible dangerous system we will have to keep a close watch on! This is because we could see some Freezing Rain in the forecast! Along with a Wet wintry mix of rain snow and sleet. Now this is a system where things are changing all the time so I will have to keep posting the latest and keep you updated the best I can!! I can tell you that as of right now I'M looking for a total freezing rain of around a quarter inch possible. A quarter inch of ice is a lot!!!!! Friday it will be another mix day! Snow to rain! We can look for total rainfall amounts around an Inch! So I will keep you posted as things get closer! You can count on it!!

Another good well GREAT Thing for snow lovers is I'M still keeping a white Christmas possible in the forecast! Now you know I'M keeping a close and I do mean close watch on our Christmas outlook!!!!! Let me tell you if you want to get out you may want to enjoy today while you can but please please watch out for ICY SPOTS!!!!!because this looks to be the only clear day until Saturday outside of the slick roads!!!! I will keep popping in to keep you posted on Thursday and Friday so do stay tuned!!!!!

Here are those big quarter size snow flakes I was talking about earlier! Have a great day allow yourself some extra time to get out and about and drive slow and take your time! There will be ice on the roads and on your cars so please be careful out there! Thank You For Reading And Please Feel Free To Post Your Comments! Have a great day!!

Half inch and counting!

The rest of tonight. low around the low 20s snowy sleet mix. Will give way to slick roads and possible icy areas! Expected total snowfall around one inch. Expected sleet around one inch possible!

Wednesday. Looking a little better with highs in the upper 20s Cloudy turning Partly cloudy. Lows in the low 20s.

Thursday. Highs in the low 30s with some freezing rain in the forecast!! I will keep a close watching this. As of now I'M watching for this freezing rain to be sometime in the afternoon. Then becoming a rainy wintry mix! You can say it all with one word!! WET!!!!! Lows will be in the low 30s.

Extended Outlook. Some possible rainy weather in the morning of Friday then looking a little better letter! I'M still looking for a possible white Christmas in the forecast! I will keep you posted on that and also the storms in between!

I currently have .5 A half inch of snow. I melted it down to get the liquid ratio of the snow and got two tents of an inch of water! Now usually one tenth of an inch of rain would be one inch of snow! And one inch on rain would be ten inches of snow! But with there being two tents of an inch of water in today's snow. If we had and inch of rain we would be tracking near two feet of snow! For snow lovers this is really fun to talk about! I will keep you posted as needed. For now please drive safely and allow yourself extra time to get around and about!! I have been watching this system all day not leaving my desk. But Now I have to go out and scoop a path for the family! SNOW TIME!!!!! :-)

Please feel free to post your comments below!

Winter weather update!!

Winter Weather Update...................

The NWS Has just put out a Winter Weather Advisory for the whole WLFI TV 18 Viewing area till 7:am Wednesday. Now even though this is not a major snow system at all. With us having our temperatures so low yesterday and today any snow that falls will stick!!!!! And the roads will become covered! And slick spots will be likely! So drive slow and safely! I'M looking for snowfall around an inch! And some possible sleet on the back side of that!! Now snow starting around 2:pm and ending around 6:pm an inch is expected. Sleet starting around 7:pm and ending around midnight an inch is expected as well. Making our total of snow and sleet to 1" to 2" inches. Here is something from the NWS posted Below.

A MIXTURE OF SNOW AND SLEET WILL MOVE INTO NORTHERN INDIANA THIS EVENING. THIS PRECIPITATION WILL FREEZE ON SURFACES WHICH ARE BELOW FREEZING. THIS MIXTURE OF SNOW AND SLEET WILL CONTINUE THOUGH THE NIGHT.A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW AND SLEET WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

So please follow these words and drive safely and drive safely! Stay tuned and I will check back as needed. You can see below the roads are already getting covered! Be safe and be smart!
This is really a street! Believe it or not you see the snow will stick with no problem!! So take your time because a little snow can go a long way!
Please Feel Free To Post Your Comments!!!!! :-)

Snow is on the way. And a possible white Christmas!

Quick Cast.............................................

Tonight. Lows in the low low 20s. sleet and snow! We may finish out the day with some possible sleet however I'M not looking for much only less then a tenth of an inch! Still we will watch slick spots on the roadways. New snowfall amounts around an inch or less.

Wednesday. Highs in the upper 20s and lows in the low 20s. Cloudy skies turning Partly cloudy later in the day to evening. There maybe some light leftover snow flurries.

Extended Outlook. We will have to keep a close watch on Friday as we could have some freezing Rain to watch! This does still have time to change as it gets closer and I will keep you posted on this! This also could be a start to a wild week! And on the bright side we are still looking likely for a white Christmas!!!!!

Here there it is great to check in with you all again!

We have more snow back in the forecast for later this afternoon around 1:pm or 2:pm where we could see snowfall amounts between that 1" Inch or less mark. Possible sleet which could make the roads icy in spots. However I'M only looking for less then a Tenth of an inch so it won't be much at all. still we will have to take our time driving! the roads are already icy now from yesterday so please take your time! Also we did see some off an on snow flurries yesterday it did not accumulate to much as seen below. Just a light dusting! And a little Icy under it!

You see the nice shiny icy on the wood chair above this is what you could find on roadway's yesterday and possibly today! This is why we say take your time and be careful! Just this little bit of ice can do a lot of damage! Now Friday is another system we will watch very closely for the fact there could be more freezing rain! We all know how bad freezing rain can be! Now it is still a little far out to give a good forecast amount and it does still have much time to change so I will keep a close close watch on this and I will keep you posted on it!!! You can count on ME!!
Now I would like to post you up to date on our Christmas Outlook!!!!!

That's right we are still looking likely for a white Christmas! I have been keeping a close watch on this and My whole family and I is wanting a white Christmas this year! It would be the ultimate Christmas gift of ALL!!!!! You can bet I will keep you posted on this and we will keep watching as it gets closer! Only 9 Day till Christmas!!!!! it's just around the corner!! I hope you all got all your Christmas shopping done!

Oh and before I forget I wanted to point out our High temperature yesterday! We had a high of only 17.8* Degrees!!!!! I think I say it all when I say Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! Believe it or not we had a record high set on that very day set back in 1971 of a high of 65* degrees! you see we where no where near that mark!!!!! :-) We had frozen doors and icy roads! And it sure was a day to keep a close watch on not only your kids and yourself but also your dogs!! Not to keep them out to long!!!!!!
